At 4D Human Being we believe leaders who want to make a difference require a high level of self-awareness, personal mastery, responsibility plus a strong and ever-present focus on continued personal development, partnership collaboration and team development. Leaders should drive employee engagement, yet only 30% of employees are engaged, costing the U.S. economy $550 billion a year in productivity loss. Moreover, a large global survey of employee attitudes toward management suggests that a whopping 82% of people don’t trust their boss and over 50% of employees quit their job because of their managers.
And what does this mean for your business? Research indicates that 30%–60% of leaders act destructively, with an estimated cost of $1–$2.7 million for each failed senior manager.
The Global Leadership Forecast 2018 shows a continued slippage in leadership bench strength (ready-now leaders who can step in to replace those who retire or move on) – in 2018, only 14% of companies have a strong bench, the lowest number seen. Yet organisations that extend development of high-potential talent below senior levels are 4.2 times more likely to financially outperform those that don’t.
